Mario J. Velez, MD, believes in educating his patients while delivering outstanding patient care.

As a gastroenterologist, Dr. Velez specializes in the treatment of numerous general and complex gastrointestinal disorders including inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and pancreatic and biliary disorders. He is skilled at performing colonoscopy, ERCP, endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) and deep enteroscopy and endoscopic treatment for obesity.

Dr. Velez attended the University of Miami in Florida for his undergraduate education. He went on to earn his medical degree at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, New York. He completed his residency at the University of Illinois-Chicago followed by his fellowship at the University of Vermont in Burlington where he served as Clinical Assistant Professor at the Larner College of Medicine.

Dr. Velez is board certified in both Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA), the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG), the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) and the Association for Bariatric Endoscopy (ABE).

In his free time, Dr. Velez enjoys hiking, traveling, cooking and cycling.
