James T. Kwiatt, MD, partners with his patients to help them understand their digestive health issues and integrate them into the context of their everyday lives. He believes in communication and mutual understanding with his patients. Dr. Kwiatt is passionate about applying new technologies and being an earlier adopter of new therapies in gastroenterology.

As a gastroenterologist, Dr. Kwiatt provides consultation for all digestive health conditions with a special focus on celiac disease and gluten intolerance. He provides colon cancer screening and treatment for Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, inflammatory bowel disease, GERD and eosinophilic esophagitis. Dr. Kwiatt is skilled at performing EGD, colonoscopy, ERCP, Barrett’s ablation and capsule endoscopy. He is active in clinical research efforts for treatment of Crohn’s, colitis and celiac disease.

Dr. Kwiatt earned his medical degree at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine in Illinois. He completed his Internal Medicine residency as Chief Resident and went on to complete his fellowship in Gastroenterology both at the Medical College of Wisconsin Affiliated Hospitals in Milwaukee. Dr Kwiatt is board certified in Gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a Celiac Disease Foundation certified practitioner.

Dr. Kwiatt is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG), the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE), the Celiac Disease Foundation and the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation. He is honored to have been named one of the, “Best Doctors,” by Best Doctors, Inc., in 2017 and 2018, and one of the Milwaukee Magazine’s Top Doctors in 2018. Dr. Kwiatt is involved with hospital leadership at ProHealth Care where he currently serves on the Peer Review and Credentialing Committees. He was the Vice Chair of Subspeciality Medicine from 2014-2018.

In his free time, Dr. Kwiatt enjoys spending time with his family, exercise, cooking on his smoker, volunteering at church, college football and golf.
