Gastroenterologist
As a gastroenterologist who treats the whole patient, Steven J. Lipscomb, MD, understands the importance of taking into account other issues that may be impacting his patients’ GI health and contributing to their presenting symptoms.
Dr. Lipscomb provides digestive health care for all acute and chronic conditions of the gastrointestinal tract and liver including abdominal pain, acid reflux disease (GERD), Barrett’s Esophagus, C diff, celiac disease, constipation, diarrhea, diverticulosis, diverticulitis, inflammatory bowel disease including Crohn’s disease & ulcerative colitis, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), malabsorption issues, pancreatitis, Peptic Ulcer Disease (PUD), rectal bleeding and liver disease including cirrhosis, fatty liver disease and hepatitis. He is skilled at performing procedures including colonoscopy, upper endoscopy, ERCP, esophageal manometry and flexible sigmoidoscopy.
During his undergraduate studies, Dr. Lipscomb attended Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he graduated cum laude. He went on to earn his medical degree at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine in Madison. Dr. Lipscomb completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and his fellowship in Gastroenterology & Hepatology at Walter Reed Army Hospital/Bethesda Naval Hospital in Washington D.C. For nine years, Dr. Lipscomb served as an internist and gastroenterologist in the United States Air Force, advancing to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. After fulfilling his active duty obligation in 2001, he settled into the Milwaukee area and began his GI practice.
Dr. Lipscomb is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) and is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG). He has published research article and abstracts in multiple peer reviewed gastroenterology journals including Gastroenterology, Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and The American Journal of Gastroenterology. Dr. Lipscomb has been honored as one of the, “Best Doctors in America,” multiple years.
In addition to spending free time with his wife, Trish and four children Emme, Margo, Sophie and Charlie, Dr. Lipscomb enjoys running, biking, fishing and sporty cars.
