Gastroenterologist
Syed Hussain, MD, is passionate about providing excellent, personalized care to patients and their families.
As a gastroenterologist, Dr. Hussain provides the spectrum of gastrointestinal and hepatology care including colon cancer screening and treatment of inflammatory bowel disease, hepatitis C and acute/chronic liver disease.
Dr. Hussain received his medical degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. He completed his internship in General Surgery at Beaumont Hospital in Dublin, Ireland, and his residency in Internal Medicine at Baystate Medical Center / Tufts University in Springfield, Massachusetts. He went on to complete his gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center in Ohio and hepatology fellowship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Hussain is board certified in both gastroenterology and internal medicine.
Dr. Hussain has been involved in teaching throughout his career and has co-authored a gastroenterology textbook for medical students and trainees. He is an active member of several national organizations and serves on the American Gastroenterological Association Congressional Advocate Committee, which promotes legislation that improves the delivery of GI care to patients. Additionally, he is an active committee member of the American College of Gastroenterology Practice Management Committee, which sets best practice guidelines for gastroenterology practices throughout the country.
A Chicago native, Dr. Hussain enjoys spending time with his family.
